What to Expect When Accessing Our Services
Taking the first step toward support can feel overwhelming, especially when you are unsure of what to expect. At MacKay Manor, we want you to feel welcomed, respected, and supported from the moment you connect with us.
We recognize that everyone’s circumstances, experiences, and recovery goals are different. Whether you are seeking bed-based programming, community withdrawal management, supportive housing, or help with smoking cessation, our team is here to help you understand your options and find the support that best meets your needs.
Getting Started
Your journey with MacKay Manor begins with a conversation.
When you contact us or are referred to one of our programs, our team will help you understand the services available, discuss your needs, and explain the next steps.
Depending on the program, this may include:
- An initial conversation about your circumstances and goals.
- An assessment to determine eligibility and identify appropriate supports.
- Information about the program, including what participation involves.
- Assistance with referrals or connections to other services when needed.
- Developing a plan that reflects your individual needs and recovery goals.
Our approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and grounded in dignity, respect, and choice.
What to Expect from Our Programs
Bed-Based Addiction Programs
Our residential treatment programs provide a structured, supportive environment where individuals can focus on their recovery. Our men’s site is in Renfrew, Ontario and our women’s site is in Ottawa, Ontario.
During your stay, you can expect a combination of individual and group programming, recovery planning, opportunities to develop coping strategies and life skills, and support from our team.
Before admission, staff will explain what to bring, program guidelines, daily routines, and what to expect throughout your stay.
Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where individuals can focus on their wellness, build connections, and prepare for the next steps in their recovery journey.
Community Withdrawal Management Services (CWMS)
Our Community Withdrawal Management Services provide support for individuals who can safely manage withdrawal from substances in a community setting.
Unlike residential treatment, this service does not require you to stay at one of our facilities.
You can expect an assessment of your needs, support in developing a withdrawal management plan, ongoing monitoring and guidance as appropriate, and assistance connecting with additional treatment and recovery resources.
Our team will work with you to determine whether community withdrawal management is appropriate or whether a higher level of medical support may be needed.
Addiction Supportive Housing (ASH)
Our Addiction Supportive Housing program supports eligible individuals who are working toward greater housing stability while addressing substance use-related needs.
Participants can expect individualized case management, assistance with developing personal goals, support with independent living skills, and connections to community services and recovery resources.
Our focus is on helping individuals maintain stable housing, strengthen their independence, and build a foundation for long-term wellness.
STOP Program – Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients
Our STOP Program provides support for individuals who want to reduce or quit smoking.
Participants can expect information about smoking cessation, assistance with developing a plan that reflects their goals, and access to nicotine replacement therapy where available and appropriate.
Whether you are ready to quit or beginning to explore your options, our team can help you take the next step.
Your Experience Matters
Regardless of which program you access, our commitment remains the same.
You can expect to be:
- Treated with dignity and respect. We recognize your individual experiences, circumstances, and strengths.
- Welcomed without judgment. We understand that substance use and recovery are complex, and everyone deserves compassionate support.
- Involved in your care. Your voice, choices, and goals are important in shaping the services you receive.
- Supported throughout your journey. We work with you to identify next steps and connect you with appropriate resources.
- Treated with respect for your privacy. Your personal information is handled in accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements.
